How Do I Become An Astronaut?

Dreaming of becoming an Astronaut?

NASA's basic requirements are:

​

1.   US citizen

2.   Bachelor's degree

3.  Three years of professional work experience (or 1,000 hours of pilot-in command time in jet aircraft)

4.    Pass NASA's astronaut physical examination

​

There are two ways of entering the astronaut program, military and civilian.  

​

Astronaut candidates must also have skills in leadership, teamwork, communications, and have a passion for learning.

​

An advanced degree is helpful in engineering, biological sciences, physical sciences, computer 

science or mathematics and willing to learn to speak Russian.  

​

Candidates must be healthy, have

distant and near vision correctable to 20/20 for each eye.  

​
